in musings

I heard somewhere that MONEY ISSUES are one of the top causes of arguments in a marriage. Well, being a single mom, money is still a hotbed subject for sure. Being in “transition” as far as work is right now… just adds to the stress of the season. Don’t get me wrong, I am blessed. VERY blessed and count my blessings every day. But I have to admit that lately, I have really been feeling the full weight of my responsibility to my daughters. At moments like this, it would be nice to have someone who I could vent to. Someone who would share this burden with me. (note: this is not to say that I don’t have any help, I sure do. But I am talking about the kind of support that only a true partner can give you) It would be nice to have someone who would share the weight of finding solutions to my problems right now.

And being without full time work around the holidays, ugh. I just need to get it out there. Off my chest so I can do what I gotta do… and concentrate on what I do have. Three wonderful daughters who I am trying with all my might to shield from the stress that I feel right now. I just want them to always feel safe and secure.

And to top everything off, I have to admit feeling guilty for even feeling the way I do and being so stressed. After all, I am very blessed, have support and help in other forms, and well… I am certainly not the worst off there is. Today I need a partner, but will settle with a friend.

Oh, honey. I’m so sorry you are feeling this stress. I am too, but yes, fortunately I have a hubby to bounce ideas off of. Sadly one of his brothers passed away last week, and we had to make a trip out to the East Coast for his funeral, and there went the little bit of Christmas money I had saved. So, it’s back to the drawing board for what to get with little money for our 7 kids! :) But we’ll figure something out, we always do! I have one suggestion that has saved my butt on many occasions – Goodwill – around here at least, I can find new or very gently used clothing at such a small cost, and they have toys there too! I’m not sure how old your girls are, but my younger kids at least don’t seem to care if their toy isn’t in it’s original packaging! :) Just an idea. Anyway, I will keep you in my thoughts!! You’re a good thinking gal, you’ll figure something out!! (((hugs)))

No need to feel guilty about your own feelings! My sister is also a single mom (albeit with just one child), but I see her trying to do it ALL: provide, protect, and still have time for herself at the end of the day. Some days, it’s just not possible, and I know that it’s often more than enough stress for a couple, much less a single person.
I wish I knew how better to say it, but your kids will realize how much you do for your family, and it’s all worth it. In the meantime, vent all you want here. You’ve got lots of people rooting you on.

Sending you big hugs!! You are amazing and inspiring to so many people, and I know your daughters know and appreciate how much you are doing for them.
