May 2010

Ever since I was a child… long before I started “scrapbooking” in the way think of it today… I was fascinated by photocorners.

You know, those little triangles that held the photographs in place. While doing some “spring” cleaning in my studio… I came across a pile of these simple paper wonders. A rediscovery of sorts. Use them for a cool retro modern feel to your layouts like this one below that I created for the Scrapbook Trends blog.

Photo corners also add a little extra touch to cards.

And finally, how about using them to accent strips of patterned paper or quilt block style layouts.

Simple, inexpensive… rediscover photo corners!

Supplies used: Patterned papers, journaling cards, etc: Elle’s Studio. kraft cardstock: JilliBeanSoup. black ribbon: Nashville  Wraps. photo corners: Canson. other: crepe paper

Had such a good time taping the latest episode of Paperclipping roundtable. This week, my product pick is…

Eco Green Crafts Glass Glintz

Glass Glintz are recycled glass embellishments. I use them just as I would rhinestones and other bling. I LOVE how they look with their smooth rounded tops. Reminds me of vintage glass pieces I have used in jewelry making, but much more economical. And they are made from glass that would otherwise be discarded.

Be sure to visit the Paperclipping Roundtable and listen to this week’s episode! (I’ll put up the link once it goes live)

Lately, I have been OBSESSED with foam tape. I just love the instant lift if gives even the most simple layout or card.

Here, the photo, the yellow tag, and the best friends sticker are all on foam tape. Hard to tell by be sub-par photography skills.. in person, it just gives the layout a little something extra. And it is so easy to do!

Here little foam squares give the corner accent a little lift. Try stacking them for various heights.

Supplies: Patterned paper, stickers, chipboard, journaling cards: DeLovely by Cosmo Cricket; Kraft cardstock: Jillibean Soup.

A couple weekends ago, we spent our Saturday at Timp High watching the girl’s at their end of year Dance Recital. Savannah and Sedona both were involved with Jazz and Ballroom this past year. Their first year in.. it was so fun to see the result of all their hard work. And it was great to see the advanced teams dance… and the inspiration they are to my girls. The day started with rehearsal at 11am and ended with the final show past 10pm. Even after such a long day and the major investment $$$ into the show, costumes, tickets, and classes – we can hardly wait for the next season to start up again!

Mondays – especially unseasonally cold ones like the one I am experiencing today… are not really condusive to creativity. Ususally I have way too much to do to take on anything that would take more than just a few moments.

So I decided to spruce up this picture frame that has been on my wall for some time now. I just added the three little rubons to the bottom corner, and it totally spruced it up, making it perfect to showcase this picture of “the Boy”.

I didn’t need to buy anything. The frame was already on the wall, and I had the rub ons in my stash! Go grab a frame, rub on some love – then back to the Monday grind stone!

PS there is still time to enter to win the Echo Park Paper prize package. Leave a comment on any “Creative Daily Post” and be entered to win. I will announce the winner this Thursday and a new giveaway on Friday!

Supplies used: Rub ons (Hambly Screen Prints)
