October 2009

A friend of my sister, who has quickly become a friend of mine, recently adopted a little baby boy. As a shower gift.. I created this little house for her to put in his nursery. The colors match his decor colors, and the little froggy on the bingo card was taken from the shower invite.

I had to share it because this was such a great photograph of the project! The picture was taken by her sister who is obviously a very skilled photographer.

Life can come at you really fast sometimes. These past few weeks have been proof of that. So first, thank you to all my dear friends for your help, love, and prayers over the past days and weeks. Papa is on the road to recovery. It will be a process, but we are keeping the faith.

things are beginning to get back into a routine… well, our routine which is still a little crazy but just not THIS crazy! And, in a day or so, I will be unveiling a new project that I have been working on. I hope you will like it!

This has been quite a week. It has been filled with the normal amount of chaos… running from one activity to the next, cheer, games, practice… but this week was also had a scare. Papa (my dad) went into the hospital with chest pain. He was sent home, had some tests and yesterday went in to the hospital for a left heart cath and what we thought would be a an angioplasty. Well, we found out that my dad will actually be undergoing open heart quadruple or quintuple bypass on Monday. To make things worse, the doctors discovered that he has failing kidneys and is only functioning at 50%.

sparkly pumpkins

by coconutgoddess on October 8, 2009

glitter_pupms

I have had a few emails asking about my sparkly pumkins.

We made three of these green guys, and there were some important lessons learned. These pumpkins are small, but still 5lbs in size. So they are not the little tiny ones. THAT was a flaw from the beginning. The big pumpkins needed A LOT Of glitter, so keep that in mind.

Start by washing and drying your pumpkins. Paint the pumpkins with a base coat of color to match the glitter. Let dry completely.

In sections, brush a thin layer of all purpose white glue. We just used good old elmers school glue, and sprinkle with the glitter. Repear until the whole pumpkin is covered. I used an entire bottle of glitter for each of these pumpkins.

Paint the stem with black paint.

Does the glitter shed? YES… am I always a little sparkly? YES… do they look pretty cool? Heck YES!

Supplies: Glitter (Making Memories, Martha Stewart Crafts) Paint (Claudine Helmouth by Ranger) Glue (Elmers School Glue)
