So much for BALANCE

by coconutgoddess on March 23, 2009

So my overall New Year's resolution this year was to strive toward BALANCE in my life. It is approaching APRIL and I feel like I am nowhere near this.

Balance

I always TRY to put my faith and my family first. But the reality is that WORK has been taking the number one seat for quite some time. As a single mother, I am very lucky to have my own village to help me with the girls. So sometimes, work slides into the number one seat because I have to provide and I am fortunate to have family that helps with girls. But as I struggle each weekend to find the time to run errands, spend time with the kids, do some spring cleaning, or even just try to get my laundry done… I can't help but feel like plates are crashing around me.

So I am TAKING my life back. I am not foolish enough to think that work won't always be a huge chunk of time in my life. I am really busy and very ambitious. But I STILL think that there has to be a way to get a little closer to this balance that I almost desperately seek. The first step to achieve this is to recognize that I really CAN'T DO IT ALL. At least not all at once. I am at the tail end of a massive launch project at work. So later this week.. I am taking some time off to take care of me, my family,  and my life. I am also going to take a little time to try and make some changes. To shift the allotment of time from almost all work.. to the other parts of my life. Family and Faith falling really short in the time quota. And somewhere in there, I need to find time to get by big butt onto my Wii fit. All work and no play is SUCKING the creative life force out of me and I will not stand for it anymore. And I am NOT going to take it any more!!! (insert primal scream)

Ok. I feel better. I guess we will see where this takes me. For now.. back to work.

Another Birthday Bash

by coconutgoddess on March 17, 2009

If you have wondering where I have been. Sorry. Life has been crazy! Work is insane and home has been just as nuts! My dear daughter Savannah had her 10th Birthday… it was a CAMP ROCK birthday party. Lots of food, singing, and fun!

This party was a blast… and as far as the Cabrera party standard, pretty simple to put on. (Buying Disney Sing-It for Wii was the best investment ever!)

Just one more B-Day this season… phew!

Video Vault

by coconutgoddess on March 10, 2009

To celebrate National Craft month.. I thought I would dust off some of my favorite videos from the Scrapbook Answers video vault! This video really brings back some fun memories. Leslie and I had a blast. And something you don’t see on the video was my out take after using the spray paint. I was completely overcome by the fumes and had to take a breather after getting a little loopy.

Even though this a few years old, the techniques are still great! Makes me want to dig out my old masks and paint.

***NOTE: I am uploading the videos to youtube since Flickr let me down. Here is the whole video. I will add a link to them all once they are all up. Thanks!

Iceice

So the highlight of the weekend was the Vanilla Ice/MC Hammer concert. YES. I really did say that. So my dear friend Brooke hooked us up with tickets… and it was a blast! Ice did a great show.  The stage was pretty basic.. in many ways, it was  club gig.. just with a much bigger audience. However, it was a good time for sure.

Hammer played all his old school hits. HE can still move for sure. HOWEVER, he STOPPED between EVERY song. THAT was a little annoying. But again, all in all.. uber fun. People watching was amazing too. A lot of peeps showed up dressed in their favorite 80's clothing. We are talking spandex, Hammer pants, and lace, and short shorts. It was funny.. and sometimes really ugly. But more than anything, getting to hang out with my sister and my friends is always a welcome treat!

This was a much needed distraction for sure. I think I am ready to face the week!
