From the monthly archives:

December 2008

I created this recipe after tasting some similar cookies at Target. One day I really craved them but when I got to the store… they were fresh out.

It's not too late to create personal Christmas cards… try this simple idea!

Digicard

This hybrid card took only a few minutes to create. I used the template Jessica Sprague created for this month's installment of Computer Tricks for Scrapbookers. You can find it here. It was originally for a full size layout. I just filled the template… then resized the whole thing down to print onto a standard 4×6!

I printed it with my new favorite printer.. the Epson Artisan 800. (VERY COOL features… including a separate 4×6 tray). But this option could also be sent to Costco or another store for printing. That makes for a VERY inexpensive photo card!

*supplies: Digital Template (Jessica Sprague), Digital elements(Two Peas in a Bucket – free digi kits), Patterned paper (KI) Glitter Sticker Tree (Making Memories)

Anyone who has been lurking around my blog knows I LOVE these big clips.

Clip

This one will be put to use at a cookie exchange coming up. I plan to clip the name of my cookie along with copies of the recipe for people to take home! When that is over.. I will just clip my Christmas card to it and display it on my desk or on the counter. The best part, this took literally 5 min to make! Just trace the clip on the back of your paper and cut to size. Adhere to the front of the clip and add a couple stickers… done!

Its not rocket science or the most brilliant, avant garde project ever, but it is fast and festive!

Board_web

This project takes about 30 min. (or less) to create.

You will need

a bulletin board - I used one that I already have hanging in my house.

9 holiday paper of your choosing - mix your decor colors with holiday papers, cardstock and other coordinating papers.

a few holiday embellies, stickers, chipboard.

Instructions:

1. Cut papers into 3.5" squares. Mount onto cardstock background. In this case I used one that had a scalloped edge. (if your board is rectangular, just adjust the paper sizes accordingly)

2. Using a temporary adhesive, stick to your board. Add embellies and stickers to some of the squares.

Board_close__web   Materials: Paper(Making Memories, KI, Martha Stewart Crafts) Cardstock (Bazzill) Stickers (Making Memories, KI, Quickutz) Memory Board (Creative Memories)

Variation: Use fabric instead of paper, or try using gift wrap piece or even old card fronts!

It is hard to believe that Christmas is just around the corner. Every year I wonder…"where did the time go?"

If you are anything like me, you spent September through November perusing through magazines to find that perfect handmade gift, new deco project, or festive lighting scheme. I always intend to get a jump start on things. And I always end up in December wondering how I got here! Procrastinators and uber busy peeps don't despair. It is not too late. You CAN take part in festive handmade merriment.

Join me every day (or evening) from now through Christmas for quick and easy projects that you CAN do now. There will be a little something for everyone. Recipes, packaging ideas, handmade gifts, last minute gifts, decor projects, kids projects, and more.

To get started we need to get organized. Go grab a notebook to map out what you want to try to get done over the next weeks. It's a good idea to include a calendar of the month's activities. Holiday parties, school programs, etc.

Below are some links to help you get started!

Organized Christmas – Has PDF downloads you can print. These are VERY handy. *tip you can size them down using your printer preferences box.

Ali Edwards – Has a wealth of Holiday ideas. I am following along with her "december daily" challenge. It is a wonderful way to document my favorite season!

Junk Binder Class – VERY cool.

Creating Keepsakes – Lot's of fun idea in the December issue. I love these advent ideas. They are so quick I think I might have to whip one up!

Ornament Drop – Erin Lincoln has created a group  for a fun ornament drop! This is a ton of fun and something that the whole family can enjoy.
