Chaos500

Supplies: Cardstock (Bazzill) Patterned Paper, Mini letter stickers (Making Memories), Overlay (Hambly Screen Prints)Glitter Letter Stickers (American Crafts) Frosted Frame and Chipboard (Sept. KOTM…sneak peek…shhhh)

Here is a layout that is inspired by a previous window layout I did. (see below)

It is a little hard to see the depth, but behind the transparency, all the chipboard shapes are sitting in a shadowbox of sorts.

To recreate this, simple cut a window to fit the transparency you want to use. *tip: try using clear frames, overlays, and other clear elements for the window.

Adhere your shapes to a piece of black cardstock to fit in the window. Use foam tape to mount the shapes behind the window with some added depth!

And this is the inspiration piece I made for Allison at Hambly last summer!

Endless_close

Close up of the center page. Sometimes I like to leave my chipboard raw.

Easter_close

I love the texture of the turquoise paper. (came with the kit) And it was easy to paint the back of the transparency element too.

A little layering never hurt.

photo folders love pink

by coconutgoddess on August 19, 2008

so when if first got this kit… i thought to myself.. uh. WHAT am I supposed to do with this? There is NO PINK. but to my happy surprise, the back side of the patterned papers were these lovely bright, pink friendly hues… so here is my take on the latest KOTM by Lisa Bearnson!

Endlesssummer

You can see another sample I did for Easter on Lisa's blog as well. Everything here is in the kit except for the one splash of pink right in the middle.  (that is Hambly Screen Prints.. thanks A!)

Click on the images below to see the details up close.

Pocket_close Details_close

To create the little "pocket" to hold more journaling… simply trim the "all of thus" transparency to size.

Adhere to the page placing adhesive behind the "a" and s".

Slip the journaling tags in to the "pocket.

getting together

Provo-350

What a fabulous weekend. I had the opportunity to spend some time down at CKU Provo and see some of my dear friends. Here I am with Paolo – Ali's old school friend and my long lost brother. From the moment we met last year in Orlando… it was like we were cousins or siblings. I love spending time with Paolo… every moment is filled with laughter.

My dear friend Jessica was there too. I really have to say, there is nothing that will bring you closer than 10 hours of printing hell…lol. Jessica is evidence, that there is a God above who sprinkled in friends through out my life who are there to love and inspire. Jess is one of these folks.

During commencement, Jessica talked about the connection that Scrapbooking is for so many of us. And it really us true. It is amazing to watch several hundred women (and occasional men) gather together with a common thread. And I have made some fantastic friends along the way. Friends who have served as shoulders to cry on, mentors, or folks to break bread with and simply enjoy.  Ali Edwards has become a good friend… but I bet you didn't know that it was ALI who  inspired me to join this business.  I was just a student in her CKU class many ions ago… and thought what a cool chick! And six months later, I was hired at Scrapbook Answers.  Then there is Margie. I have always admired her and loved her contagious spirit (I also met her at that CKU long ago)… and what an honor it is to call her a friend.  We spent some time together in the desert a couple years ago teaching at an event. It was help at the Biltomore.. and that is where I met Mou.(small world!)And finally, did you know that Tim Holtz and Mario are really nice guys! I had a chance to get to know them more last year.. again.. in the CKU circuit. I bet he didn't know that I really was intimidated by him at one point. And for a short period of time, I sort of didn't like the guy. And I am ashamed to admit, it was for no real reason. I just didn't know him. I thought I had him all figured out, but really, he is just a guy who loves to create, to teach, and share.

It was Ali's last CKU, at least for the time being. And it feels like things have some full circle in a way. It made me realize what an honor and joy it is to work in such a wonderful industry. To get to meet sooooo many wonderful people. And hopefully.. to inspire one person along the way. Compared to these good folks, I am just grasshopper.. but what an awesome ride (complete with ups and downs) it is turning out to be.

So next time there is a crop, or a class, or some Scrapbooking shindig near you… go. Make a connection.. make a friend.. you never know where it will lead.
