scrapbooking

March is quite a month for me. I am putting together three birthdays, my daughter’s baptism, a bridal shower, a bachelorette party, and a DIY wedding. What better excuse to fulling immerse myself in National Craft month than all these fun events. So lets kick things off (finally) with Pink Craft Week.

We have all seen these fun puff balls (made popular by Martha Stewart) But try another take on them… string them into a garland for an easy puffy garland. To create a puff garland is easy. You will use the same technique as the larger one with just a couple simple adjustments.

I absolutely LOVED this week’s episode of the Paperclipping Roundtable! We talked smartphone photos and more crafty tech talk.

Some of the layouts I talked about can be seen in a previous post right here. . .

I also wanted to share more of my favorite iphone and ipad photo apps. I have tested and played with literally dozens of them… and these are the ones I keep, play, and scrap with on a regular basis!

I have decided to postpone the kick off pink week for just a couple days to March 3.

TWO REASONS.

  1. wedding tasks – NO NOT MY WEDDING! My little sister! I am creating all the decorations, invitations, some jewelry, favors etc. The bride informed me of the need for 50 more invites…so off to create more of those lovely little ones as we speak.
  2. ZOMBIES- specifically the Plants VS Zombies game on my iPad. I am addicted and it has sucked the life force from me.

However, after another very fun taping of the Paperclipping Rountable, I am totally inspired! Once the episode is available, I will post details from the show! Until then Happy Zombie killing and as always. Think Pink!

CHA kicked my butt

by coconutgoddess on February 10, 2011

in CHA

What a trip… I love reading all the recaps, and here is mine. This is long… so grab a cup of cocoa and relax. (and skip down to the end if you want to win some fun prizes!)

Our trip started Friday. Mama (my mother) and I decided to drive to LA from our home in UT – by way of Vegas of course. A quick stop turned into an awesome dinner…

and some major shopping!

If you have not seen the giant H&M in Ceasars, go. Go Now! Needless to say we ended up getting into LA pretty late.

Day 1  started at an 8 am Making Memories VIP event to showcase the new Bravissimo line. Gave my stamp of approval and shared how much I love this line.. then off to the show floor. Followed by a fun Cricut party to celebrate 5 years of the Cricut and then off to dinner with the wonderful ladies of Big Picture Classes. (and if that isnt enough… from there we ended up going to a party where my “uncle” was playing for some live band Karaoke) And meeting up with my dear friend Paolo.

The rest of the week was pretty close to the same relentless schedule.

Day 2 highlight was the Paperclipping Roundtable for sure. I always love being on the show.. but there is something exta special fun and fabulous about getting to actually be sitting with these fantastic ladies. And well, it was cool for my mama to see what it is we do at “CHA”.

Day 3 more make and takes for mama on the show floor, a few more meetings and then off to Vegas. (or we thought)

On the way home, we got a call that my youngest little diva was really ill – throwing up every hour, and asking for me. So I decided that we would skip Sin City and power through and drive straight home. If all goes well… we would be home at about 4 am. IF all goes well. Unfortunately things didnt quite go as planned. In the mountain pass just beyond St. George we got hit by a pretty big snow storm. Hoping to still trudge through… we went on. We only got as far as Beaver before we had to pull into a creepy motel and call it night.

We FINALLY made it home the next day. Since I got home, we have been pass the virus… and now. I am officially butt kicked, totally inspired, and completely exhausted! But I would do it again, and in fact will… CHA Summer will be here before we know it! lol.

As for my favorite product picks? Download “Almost live from CHA” episode of the Paperclipping Roundtable. And be sure to check out the blog all weekend long and I will share more of my favorite finds and inspiration from the show! Wanna win some? Come back to the blog tomorrow (Friday) for an all new weekender giveaway!

It is not secret that I love playing around with my iPhone and various apps to get different photo effects. Most of these apps were created with digital sharing in mind. But being a lover of all things paper… I just had to create some “paper” pages with my cell phone pictures.

For this layout, I simply printed out pics that were taken using my iPhone 4 and the app Hipstamatic. The app gives pictures a vintage, toy camera look. With the various film, lense, and flash types, it is really fun to play around for varied effect. I printed the pictures using my 4×6 printer (Epson Picturemate). However, I have learned that a recent update to the app allows you to order prints direct from the app.

If you don’t have an iPhone or this app, you can achieve a similar look by using various frames.

Check out my friend’s site JessicaSprague.com for lots of cool vintage frames that will give your photos a similar look!

This layout uses images that were taken using Incredibooth. I have talked about this app in a previous post. It simulates those cool photobooths you used to see at fairs and such. Again, I just used my 4×6 printer and used them as I would any other picture.

Kitschy Digital has some very cool photo frames you can use for larger pictures or if you dont have an iphone 4.

Moral of today’s story? Have fun, experiment… you never know what you may discover!

Labor of Love

by coconutgoddess on September 3, 2010

in life,musings

Well, I have been a busy girl. I have so many fun projects coming up this fall… as you can see. My workspace has suffered a little. Not to mention taking a last moment vacation to California right before school started. I don’t know about you.. but I need to hit the reset button of my life. I think it will take me another week to get back into the groove of things.

So first up…I am so thrilled to be the guest designer for Scarlet Lime. The gallery will be going up tomorrow rather than today… so you still have time to leave a comment for your chance to win! I will announce the winner of the kit LATE tonight.  Be sure to swing by a little later too… I am photographing some projects today and would love to share. Once the gallery is live, I will post a link here.

I am really feeling the creativity rushing back to me. So let’s play! Creative Daily will resume after the weekend.
