holidays

This is Sedona.

She is the youngest of my three totally amazing daughters. Tonight, she showed me what the holidays are all about. I was sitting on the couch in the living room admiring the Christmas Tree and enjoying the neighborhood lights. In walks my little one. She plops herself next to me, and with out any hesitation asks me to sing with her.

So sing we did. Christmas tune after Christmas tune… laughing all along the way. Joking the way only Sedona can. Lea and Xander joined us. The Xman added his own special brand of dancing – complete with kick ball change, marching, and even a little break dancing. Sierra and Savannah joined in adding more love and laughter.  And ending our little “program” with our own rendition of the 12 days of Christmas - ”and a pickle in a white plastic tree”. All the glitter, tinsel, and lights are the outward expression of what this season is about. LOVE.

Thanks Sedona, you rock.

wrapped gifts craftification

It’s a Wrap

I just LOVE gift wrap. Always have.

In fact, I love wrapping gifts so much… I pretty much hijack all the gifts and wrap them myself. Well coordinated wrapping has been a family tradition for us. It really started with my mom. For years, we would have a solid color wrap and colored ribbon. Each gift lovingly wrapped and then tied with the most beautiful ribbon bows.

For as long as I remember I have been in charge of our gift tags. From the time I was a teen, I would scour the pages of Martha Stewart looking for the perfect bit of inspiration – then make it my own. Which usually meant spending a fraction that Martha did!

Now, the tradition lives on. This year for my pink themed Christmas – We have silver and metallic pink wrap with brightblue and pink ribbons. I have a variety of tags, and for some… I have simply used letter sticker from my stash to label the name of the recipient directly on the package! Thanks to Walmart and Tai Pan trading, these gifts only LOOK luxurious!

Our lovely living room… thanks to Mama! She stayed up 36 hours to decorate our whole house! It’s like having our very own elf…lol.

This gorgeous wreath is evidence of where I get my creative side. Mama made this wreath by hand, including every component. It was even published in a holiday idea book! So anytime she tries to tell you she’s not crafty.. don’t believe her!

Halloween Hospital

by coconutgoddess on November 3, 2009

The past week has been simply insane. In fact, it has been like a hospital around here with each family member dropping like  flies with the flu. Luckily, is seems we have finally turned a corner and I am the only one left feeling a bit run down. Sadly, little Sedona missed out on Trick or Treating this year.

She still managed to dress like a zombie. (just like me!)
