… and hidden again. As the snow falls {yes you read that right. The snow is falling outside my window as we speak} I am happy to have some little hints of spring to brighten things up.

The paper flowers [above] use the same technique as my white wedding flowers. I just used some fun spring patterns rather than plain white. I also glued a Jenni Bowlin mini bingo card to one of the picks and created a fun jelly bean topped flower to for an extra touch of whimsy.

Easter weekend was a busy one for us – spent with family, friends, and lots of yummy food. It’s hard to believe {especially on a cold day like today} that summer is just around the corner. Here are some family highlights. {my kids were being butts on easter so I dont actually have any pictures of them in their pretty Sunday Easter outfits…boo}

Xander and Savannah getting ready for the neighborhood egg hunt… too bad he refused to touch any of the eggs.

Personalize your wedding cake with these super cute hand painted peg people!

Lea requested this personalized cake topper… with figures of Logan and Lea. But also, with figures of their sons – Xander and Mason. They were very simple to paint and extremely inexpensive. You could mount them to a small wooden plaque or just stick them on top like they are here. And how cute would it be to create a peg to give to each member of the wedding party?
To create a set of your own, you will need:
- wooden pegs (you can find them online, etsy, or at your local craft shop)
- paint
- paint brushes
Start by painting the bride, she really is the simplest one to do. I also recommend purchasing a few extras – for practice.
When you are done, let the little people dry and finish with a clear coat.
We were inspired by the little cake toppers we found onEtsy.

For the cake stand, Lea purchased the tree stump online. Of course, if you have access to some wood you could cut, sand, and varnish a piece yourself. Using a dremmel tool I carved out the heart. Channeling my girls camp days, I used a wood burner to add the “L + L”

The results were simple but very cute. Perfect for our DIY theme! Leave a comment for your chance to win 4 blank pegs to create a custom couple of your own.

These little wired flowers add a touch of whimsy to any floral arrangement… paper or otherwise! I created them in white to coordinate with our overall theme, but they can easily be created to match any color scheme.
For each flower, you will need…
- 1 piece of 24 gauge floral wire (we chose white wrapped, but you could also use unwrapped, green, or brown)
- 2 flower die cuts* (these were cut using the eclips)
- hot glue gun
- 2″ piece of bamboo skewer (this is a great way to use the trimmed pieces from the other flowers)
1. Fold the floral wire in half, about 1/2″ from the end of the bent tip - twist the other onto the end of the skewer.

2. Dip the tip into the hot glue and pick up a little blog.
3. Sandwich the glue blob between two flowers. Hold in place until set.

4. When adding into your arrangement, allow the flower to hang past the rest of the flowers… it will give the bouquet added style and movement.
