Holidays

I can hardly believe that it is already 2009! I just love this time of year. It feels like a "do over" in so many ways. Like most people, I am working on some New Years resolutions. Some… are well intended left over resolutions from last year. Others… are reflective of my life today. One resolution is daily blogging. This satisfies me both professionally and personally. There is something soothing about reaching out to my dear blog friends, and I know that I need to be better. We will start now!

And since it has been a while.. how about a quick update.

The holidays were awesome. I love spending time with the family and taking in the season. This year was so special to me. We enjoyed a heavy dusting of snow, got lots of yummy goodies from our neighbors, and enjoyed plenty of family time eating, playing guitar hero, and just chillin'. For New Years – we spent the day cooking traditional Filipino dishes, eating them.. then shooting off fireworks around the midnight hour. Today we went to a neighbors house for more Guitar Hero, food, and conversation. This has been a refreshing couple weeks. And I am ready to hit the ground running!

I created this recipe after tasting some similar cookies at Target. One day I really craved them but when I got to the store… they were fresh out.

It's not too late to create personal Christmas cards… try this simple idea!

Digicard

This hybrid card took only a few minutes to create. I used the template Jessica Sprague created for this month's installment of Computer Tricks for Scrapbookers. You can find it here. It was originally for a full size layout. I just filled the template… then resized the whole thing down to print onto a standard 4×6!

I printed it with my new favorite printer.. the Epson Artisan 800. (VERY COOL features… including a separate 4×6 tray). But this option could also be sent to Costco or another store for printing. That makes for a VERY inexpensive photo card!

*supplies: Digital Template (Jessica Sprague), Digital elements(Two Peas in a Bucket – free digi kits), Patterned paper (KI) Glitter Sticker Tree (Making Memories)

Anyone who has been lurking around my blog knows I LOVE these big clips.

Clip

This one will be put to use at a cookie exchange coming up. I plan to clip the name of my cookie along with copies of the recipe for people to take home! When that is over.. I will just clip my Christmas card to it and display it on my desk or on the counter. The best part, this took literally 5 min to make! Just trace the clip on the back of your paper and cut to size. Adhere to the front of the clip and add a couple stickers… done!

Its not rocket science or the most brilliant, avant garde project ever, but it is fast and festive!

Board_web

This project takes about 30 min. (or less) to create.

You will need

a bulletin board - I used one that I already have hanging in my house.

9 holiday paper of your choosing - mix your decor colors with holiday papers, cardstock and other coordinating papers.

a few holiday embellies, stickers, chipboard.

Instructions:

1. Cut papers into 3.5" squares. Mount onto cardstock background. In this case I used one that had a scalloped edge. (if your board is rectangular, just adjust the paper sizes accordingly)

2. Using a temporary adhesive, stick to your board. Add embellies and stickers to some of the squares.

Board_close__web   Materials: Paper(Making Memories, KI, Martha Stewart Crafts) Cardstock (Bazzill) Stickers (Making Memories, KI, Quickutz) Memory Board (Creative Memories)

Variation: Use fabric instead of paper, or try using gift wrap piece or even old card fronts!
